Terms & Conditions

Updated January 20, 2024

These terms & Conditions may be updated or revised without notice at the discretion of Saints and Sages LC. Current Terms & Conditions are always available on our website.

By making a payment to Saints and Sages LC, you agree to these Terms & Conditions, along with any others included in your booking confirmation. The person making the booking (the “lead traveler”) assumes the responsibility of sharing the Terms & Conditions and any supplements with each traveler for whom they make a booking. Saints and Sages LC is not responsible for any customer’s lack of awareness due to the failure of the lead traveler to share this information with all other travelers.

The terms “Saints & Sages”, “S²”,” “we,” and “our” in this document refer to Saints and Sages LC and its related and affiliated companies, including their employees, guides, contractors, directors, and agents. Saints & Sages is a tour operator registered with the State of Georgia, which offers and operates all the trips listed herein. All trips are offered subject to S²’s standard terms and conditions, which are found in your booking agreement, on our website here, and by request. Please review the terms and conditions carefully prior to completing your reservation. Some of these terms and conditions are set out below to draw your attention to the fact that our obligations to you are limited. Should you have any questions or concerns please contact us.

SAINTS & SAGES DAY TRIPS

Reservations

Reservations are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Payment is due at the time of reservation to hold your place on the trip.

Refundability

Day Trips are non-refundable, but may be transferred to another person as long as they sign the Terms & Conditions set forth by Saints & Sages. No refunds will be available for failure to board the bus at the assigned time and place. Guests who choose to depart from a trip in progress or who are denied re-boarding for violating our terms and conditions are responsible for their own safety, transportation, and any expenses incurred. Unused portions of a trip are non-refundable. If Saints & Sages cancels a trip, you are entitled to a full refund without penalty. Please allow 14 days for check refunds.

Company Liability

Saints & Sages does not accept any responsibility for loss, damage, delay or inconvenience caused to guests when travelling on or booked on a day trip. All arrangements for meals, refreshments, entertainment, or other means of travel such as motorcoach or train are made by the company as agents for or on behalf of the guests on the condition that S² shall not be responsible for any loss, damage, delay, or inconvenience caused to guests as a result of such arrangements. Any accidents or incidents must be reported to the office within seven days of occurrence.

Pick-up Locations and Parking Disclosure

Saints & Sages offers pickup points as a convenience to guests. These pick up locations are not offered or implied as secure or legal locations for automobile parking. We recommend guests observe all parking restrictions and local ordinances. S² assumes no liability for loss, theft, damage, personal injury, or citations arising from the locations at which guests’ automobiles are parked.

Luggage/Guest Property

S² reserves the right to refuse articles of an objectionable or dangerous nature. We will not be responsible for loss, damage, or theft of personal property.

Traveler Responsibilities

All passengers assume responsibility for following all trip procedures, safety regulations and protocols, including rules set forth by the driver/transportation company and the Travel Director. We reserve the right to refuse passage to anyone who, in our sole opinion, may adversely affect the health, safety, or enjoyment of other guests on a trip, either prior to departure or during the trip. Should it be necessary for a passenger to return home while a tour is in progress due to the violation of these responsibilities, any travel expenses incurred, and personal safety, are the sole responsibility of the traveler.

Motorcoach Etiquette

For the comfort and enjoyment of all travelers, we ask our guests to observe the following motor coach etiquette:

  1. Silence your cell phone while on the motor coach and limit cell phone conversations to urgent calls only.
  2. Use personal headphones while playing videos, interacting on social media, listening to music apps, or using any other noise-making devices. Never put your devices on speaker-mode.
  3. Practice good hygiene and refrain from using strong perfumes in consideration of those with asthma and sensitivities.
  4. Maintain a low volume on personal conversations and pause your conversation when the Travel Director or driver is addressing the group.

Service Dogs: Service dogs trained to perform specific tasks for a disabled person are permitted on Saints & Sages day trips. Advance notification is preferred, as it allows us to better prepare to accommodate the service dog and disabled person’s needs. For the comfort and safety of others, emotional support dogs and pets are not permitted on any trip.

Seat Allocation

The motorcoach does not have assigned seating.

Seat Belts

Saints & Sages reminds you that seat belt use is highly encouraged, although not legally required in the back of vehicles in the State of Georgia.

Breakdowns, Delays, & Weather Conditions

Saints & Sages gives approximate journey times in good faith. Nevertheless, as a result of breakdown or traffic congestion, or any other events beyond the reasonable control of the company, journeys may take longer than predicted, and in those circumstances, the company will not be liable for any loss or inconvenience suffered by guests as a result.

The company will operate rain or shine unless the main attraction of the tour is cancelled by the service provider or unless the transport company cancels its services. If this occurs, S² will refund any deposits that they are able to recover from the contracted vendors.

Mobility Scooters

Bus and motorcoach vehicles differ in their ability to accommodate mobility scooters. Before booking, please contact Saints & Sages so they can see if this can be accommodated. Saints & Sages does not own its own fleet of vehicles, so availability depends on what vendors have available for the dates in question. Please note that some vehicles will allow storage of a scooter (depending on the dimensions), but will require the guests to transfer onto the bus without the device.

Motor coaches equipped with a wheelchair lift should be requested as far in advance as possible and are subject to availability and the circumstances of each tour.

Disabled Services at Facilities

Should you desire special accommodation or equipment to assist with a disability at the tour destination, please let us know in advance so we can advise our service providers. Although we will do our best to notify these providers, S² does not guarantee the availability of loaner wheelchairs or the ability of the service provider to otherwise accommodate a disabled person. Wheelchair accessible and ADA compliant rooms at hotels can be requested but cannot be guaranteed. The availability of such rooms on the dates of your tour may vary from property to property, and standards may vary from place to place and are not within the control of Saints & Sages.

Age Restrictions

All S² day trips are, at this point in time, designed for adults. If a guest wishes to bring a minor along on a trip, they need to reach out to Saints & Sages to see if they can accommodate.

Special Requests

S² will provide the services and facilities of the trip as described on the website. Special meals and dietary needs must be communicated in advance of the trip. Saints & Sages selects restaurants who will do their best to accommodate guest needs, however, Saints & Sages cannot guarantee that contracted restaurants will be able to accommodate every dietary need.

Photo Waiver

During the course of an excursion the Travel Director and fellow travelers may, and often do, take photographs and videos in order to share the experience on social media platforms and the Saints & Sages website. It is possible that you may appear in one or more of the photos or videos, and by joining a Saints & Sages day trip, you are giving your consent to be photographed and/or recorded and to have your appearance and voice used in any and all media throughout the universe and in perpetuity without notice or compensation.

COVID-19

Saints & Sages does not require proof of vaccination to travel. While we continue to encourage guests to be vaccinated for their own and fellow travelers’ protection, we do not require proof of vaccination as a condition of travel. The use of masks onboard the motor coach remains optional although it may be required at certain venues. Despite the level of protocols and safety measures in place, any interaction with the general public and others poses an elevated risk of being exposed to COVID-19, and we cannot guarantee that you and your traveling companion(s) will not be exposed while traveling on an excursion. Saints & Sages is not responsible for the personal choices and interactions travelers have with each other whether onboard the motor coach or off. Persons who must depart from a trip due to a COVID infection or other unexpected reasons are responsible for all associated costs including return transportation home, and unused portions of the tour are nonrefundable.

Liability

Saints & Sages acts solely as the agent in arranging for and coordinating various services of other companies to create trips, including transportation, hotels, restaurants, performance and admission tickets, and other services. The persons or companies engaged in conducting those services are not employees of Saints & Sages; therefore, Saints & Sages assumes no liability for any loss, accident, baggage damage, delay, inconvenience, expense, or injury to you or any persons traveling with you owing to any act of default or negligence caused by any person or company engaged in providing those services, or by any strike, acts of Providence, or other events beyond our control. We reserve the right to cancel or alter any trip when circumstances require. By submitting your payment for any trip you are accepting these terms and conditions in their entirety.

PRICES, RESERVATIONS, AND PAYMENT: SMALL GROUP TRAVEL

Our small group travel includes adult, family, and scholar trips. To reserve your Small Group or S² trip, we require a deposit of US$600 per person. At or before 120 days prior to your trip, 50% of your remaining balance is due. The final, full balance of your payment is due on or before 90 days prior to departure. If reserving your trip within 95 days of departure, full payment is required. To complete your reservation, you must fill out a Traveler Information Form and an Acknowledgement of Risk, Release and Indemnity , prior to your date of travel with us. These will be sent to you in your booking confirmation email. These forms include additional terms and conditions of travel, including limitations of our obligations to you. Scholar trips involving minors will require an additional Minor Conduct Form and Waiver.

You must make all payments on time and in accordance with the instructions that we provide you. If we do not receive any payment due in full and on time, we reserve the right to treat your booking as cancelled by you, in which case the cancellation charges set out below will become payable. We reserve the right to refuse a booking without giving any reason and shall, in that event only, return any deposit received. Reservations are non-transferrable.

Please note, some trips may have special cancellation terms and conditions different to what is outlined here. Refer to your booking confirmation email, where you will find the terms and conditions specific to your trip at the time of booking. Please call or email with any questions or concerns.

INCLUDED IN A SAINTS & SAGES SCHEDULED TRIP

Prices are per person based on double occupancy and include: all accommodations; airport transfers and land transportation as detailed in each trip itinerary; basic internet where available in hotel rooms (service levels are not guaranteed); entertainment and special dinners as arranged by Saints & Sages; services of S² directors, drivers, and local guides. Included meals are specified in the itinerary. All appropriate gratuities are included for included restaurant meals, local guides, and your trip director.

We make every attempt to secure the type of bedding our guests prefer (single bed or double), however we cannot guarantee it as hotels differ in their ability to accommodate these requests.

For travelers not sharing a room, please consult our “Single Supplement:” trip price for singles is higher because they do not share the cost of a room with another traveler.

NOT INCLUDED IN A SAINTS & SAGES SCHEDULED TRIP

Trip prices do not include your airfare to the departure point and from the ending point of your trip unless specified in your itinerary. The terms and conditions of the air carrier including the cancellation terms apply to your airfare.

As a service, S² will make hotel reservations before or after your trip on a space available basis upon request. These hotel charges will be added to your trip cost. Personal expenses such as phone calls, room service, alcoholic beverages and minibar food and drinks, laundry, airline excess luggage charges, and other optional incidental extras are not included. This list gives merely some examples and is not a complete list of every item not included.

TRIP MEMBER CONDUCT

By participating in an S² trip, you agree to be bound by all rules and guidelines established by S², its representatives, and your S² director.

S² reserves the right to terminate your trip if you are abusive of others, if your behavior disrupts the trip, or your physical condition negatively impacts the enjoyment of other guests. S² will make no refund and will accept no liability for if you must leave the trip. S² is not responsible for any costs incurred by you due to removal from a vacation.

For scholar trips involving minors, the parent or guardian and the child travelling are additionally bound by the provisions stated in the Minor Conduct Form and Waiver.

When you book with us, you accept responsibility for any damage or loss caused by you and your minor dependents.

ELIGIBILITY

For adult scheduled trips, we require that travelers be at least 18 years of age (at time of travel) on all Small Group trips, with the exception of Family trips, where age limitations may apply, and travelers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. There are no general age limitations on bespoke trips although specific itineraries may have age-specific activities, and all minors must be accompanied by an adult.

For scholar trips, refer to the trip information page for specific age requirements.

AIRLINE RESERVATION SERVICES

Airline reservations may be included with a trip (see specific itinerary) or may be purchased through Saints & Sages for travel originating in the United States. By using Saints & Sages’ air services, you agree that Saints & Sages, in purchasing, selling, or otherwise arranging air transportation, is acting only as your agent with air carriers, who are independent contractors. S² is not liable or responsible for any accident, death, personal injury, illness, property damage, delay or other loss or expense of any nature whatsoever arising directly or indirectly out of any act of God, or any actions or omissions (including any failure to provide services) or default of, any carrier.

Your airline ticket purchased through S² constitutes a contract between yourself and the airline. S² is not liable for, and does not assume responsibility or accept claims with regard to: seat assignments, name changes, schedule changes, flight changes, missed connections, cancellations, claims for a refund or reimbursement of airline ticket fees, or any other loss or expense incurred by you for any reason whatsoever (including, without limitation to bankruptcy, insolvency, reorganization of a carrier or similar relief from creditors).  S² must handle ticketing for S²’s special fares, which are subject to availability and cannot be guaranteed until reserved.  Special fares cannot be combined with any other promotional offer. S²’s air services must be purchased in conjunction with a S² trip.  Electronic ticket numbers will be mailed with final documents. Should you cancel or change your flights before or after departure, all airline cancellation and change fees will apply.  It is your responsibility to confirm all departures 24 hours in advance and to be aware of any changes by the carrier.

TRIP MEMBER HEALTH AND SAFETY

You participate in the activities of the trip at your own risk. Climbing, hiking, extensive walking, touring in general, use of various transportation and recreational vehicles, and other physical activity may involve greater risk of injury or death than the activities which you may participate in during your daily life.  By taking part in such activities, you incur and assume all of the risks that such activities present.  As Saints & Sages is not qualified to evaluate your fitness, you (or your doctor) must evaluate your fitness for any given tour or activity.  S² assumes no liability or responsibility for any damages which may result from your participation in any activity during the trip.

You may be required to sign waivers on or before the departure date.  Failure to sign waivers may prevent you from participating in the trip or from participating in specific trip activities.

ITINERARY CHANGES AND FLEXIBILITY

Saints & Sages will make every effort to operate all trips as advertised. Travelers should be flexible as situations may arise that require changes or exceptions to the itinerary. S² reserves the right to alter or curtail the itinerary and substitute hotels, sightseeing, and/or transport as it is deemed necessary. Any savings received by these changes will be refunded to guests. Any resultant expenses will be covered by Saints & Sages.

LUGGAGE POLICY

We ask that each guest be able to handle his or her own luggage. Although porterage will nearly always be available at hotels, it will not be available if your trip involves public transport or train transportation. Note: if your trip includes on-tour flights, the checked luggage weight restrictions for these flights may be lower than weight restrictions for your international flights. Guests are responsible for paying any excess weight charges for their luggage.

S² is not responsible for loss or damaged luggage and personal effects due to breakage, theft, or fair wear and tear through hotel, airline, and ground transportation handling. It is important to have adequate insurance to cover these situations.

TRAVELING WITH MINORS

By bringing a minor on a Saints & Sages family trip, the parents and/or guardian of the participating minor agree to be solely responsible for the supervision and welfare of the minor on the trip and to ensure that the minor follows all written and verbal rules of safety. The parents and/or guardian of the participating minor, for themselves and on behalf of the participating minor, hereby release and discharge, and agree to hold harmless, Saints & Sages from and against any and all damages (including, without limitation, emotional trauma) suffered or incurred by such minor.

If you are traveling as the guardian of a child/children, we strongly suggest that you carry a letter from both parents of the child authorizing emergency treatment in the event of illness or accident.  For travel abroad, many foreign countries have specific entry requirements for children under 21 who are traveling internationally without BOTH parents. (These requirements are in response to the increased incidence of children being abducted and taken abroad.)  PLEASE NOTE THAT SAINTS & SAGES IS NOT RESPONSIBLE for the disruption of travel caused by improper documentation for children traveling without both parents.

TRAVELERS NEEDING SPECIAL ASSISTANCE

Special Dietary Requests: The restaurants, hotels, caterers, and numerous other partners we work with all do their best to accommodate special dietary requests from you. However, given the diverse nature of these food providers, some of our partners are better able than others to accommodate such requests. We therefore cannot guarantee that all dietary requests can be accommodated at every meal. Also, please note that where dietary requests can be accommodated, choices will frequently be limited.

Mobility: Saints & Sages regrets that it cannot provide special assistance for walking, wheelchairs, motorized scooters, dining, or other personal needs. If you require such assistance, you must be accompanied by an able companion who will assist you.

PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO ON TOUR

Occasionally, Saints & Sages will use photographs and/or video taken on tour by fellow guests, your director, or professional photographers to use in print, internet, and other promotional purposes. If you prefer that your image not be used in any marketing activities, please notify your director at the start of your trip.

TRAVEL DOCUMENTS

Travel documents, which may include, but are not limited to, visas, passports, proof of vaccination, proof of COVID-19 testing, proof of medical insurance, and any other government-mandated documentation required by countries to which we travel may vary according to the nationality of each traveler and may change at any time for reasons beyond our control. Although we endeavor to provide you with accurate information about these requirements, it remains your responsibility to verify that you have the appropriate travel documents related to this trip for your nationality. S² is not liable for any expenses or costs arising from any traveler being prohibited from entering a country scheduled to be visited on a trip. Please note that many countries deny entry to visitors whose passport expiry date is at or within six months of their arrival date.

EXTERNAL TRAVEL SERVICES

S² may recommend the services of external travel companies or other support services in response to requests made by travelers for services outside of the scope of a S² trip. Although we endeavor to recommend only companies that provide the highest levels of service and work closely with them to try to obtain special treatment for S² travelers, we do not guarantee the services provided by third parties. S² is not liable for any injury, expenses, costs, or cancellation penalties arising from any services, or lack thereof, provided by any third party nor the standards of care which travelers experience when using those services.

HEALTH

By sending a deposit toward your trip purchase and completing your Traveler Information Form, you certify that you do not have any physical or mental condition or disability that would create a hazard for you or other travelers and that you have received all appropriate or necessary vaccinations as required by your country(ies) of destination. Please consult your doctor.

We reserve the right to modify any trip and its associated activities, including where modifications are necessary or advisable (as determined by us) i) to accommodate any physical, mental or emotional limitation, condition, limitation or ability of which you have advised us; or ii) due to health and safety concerns arising from local conditions including those related to the COVID-19 global pandemic. You acknowledge that should you choose not to advise us of any physical, mental or emotional condition, limitation or ability, or vaccination status, we may not be able to fully accommodate you on all aspects and features of a trip.

Each traveler shall be responsible for carrying and providing to local authorities and service providers proof of vaccination, proof of COVID-19 testing, proof of medical insurance, and all other government-mandated forms as required by local authorities in the country(ies) of destination. It is your responsibility to be aware of and to comply with all such requirements and laws. The rules change quickly and often – continue to inform yourself right up to and during your trip.

INSURANCE

Before travelling on a trip, we strongly recommend you review your personal insurance and health insurance to ensure you have coverage appropriate to meet your needs, and the needs of your family and dependents, in case of any loss of property or illness, injury, or death.

RISKS

International S² trips take clients out of the United States, and other countries’ facilities, infrastructure, safety and other standards may be different from those in a traveler’s home country. Trips may involve physical activity that can be demanding, depending on the condition of the traveler, and the risk of serious personal injury, including permanent disability and death from accident, illness, or the actions or negligence of other persons. Medical facilities and services may differ from those in the traveler’s home country.

Risks related to travel also include the likely presence of the virus that causes COVID-19, including variants (collectively “COVID-19”). Rates of COVID-19 infection may be higher, and rates of vaccination may be lower at the locations of your trip than in your home state or country. The availability of therapies, medical practitioners and hospital beds for treatment of COVID-19 may be different than in the United States. Laws, regulations, customs, and policies related to COVID-19 in the destinations and premises where you will travel on trip (“Local Regulations”) may be different than in your home country.

There are other risks associated with travel with S², such as theft or loss of or damage to property. Some of the services provided in connection with the trip, including lodging, transportation, food service, and local tours and activities, are obtained from independent suppliers over whom Saints & Sages has no control.

LIMITATION OF LIABILITY, RELEASE, AND INDEMNITY

When pricing each S² trip, we strictly and expressly rely on each traveler to read, execute, and submit our standard Acknowledgement of Risk, Release and Indemnity form . Scholar trips will additionally need to read, execute, and submit a Minor Conduct Form and Waiver.

This/these document(s) will be sent to you after you have paid your initial deposit. The document(s) must be read, signed, and returned to us at least 60 days prior to the trip’s departure. Our receipt of the completed and signed form will complete your reservation.

In the event S² determines to cancel a scheduled trip for reasons of force majeure (including acts of war, terrorism, civil unrest, quarantine, curfew, natural disaster, pandemic, epidemic and other causes outside of S²’s control), or if the quality of the trip or the safety of the travelers is judged by S² to be compromised by factors external to S², in such a case, S² will endeavor to refund payments received. We ask that our valued clients recognize that there are expenses, including unrecoverable third-party deposits, that S² cannot recoup as the planned date of a trip draws near, and as a result, a full refund is not always possible. However, we will make every effort to recover, for the benefit of our travelers, as many of those expenses as we are able.

S²’S DISCRETION TO RUN SMALL GROUP SCHEDULED DEPARTURES

S² retains the sole discretion to run any scheduled trip notwithstanding the occurrence of any event or the existence of any condition in or near any place of travel included on a trip itinerary or in proximity to such a place or affecting travel, including air travel, in general. S²’S DISCRETION TO RUN BESPOKE DEPARTURES

S² retains the sole discretion to run any custom trip notwithstanding the occurrence of any event or the existence of any condition in or near any place of travel included on a trip itinerary or in proximity to such a place or affecting travel, including air travel, in general. If S² determines in good faith to run a trip, then with respect to that trip, any traveler cancelling a reservation shall be bound by the cancellation policies applicable to trips cancelled by the traveler in accordance with the provisions above.

CANCELLATION INSURANCE

We strongly recommend you purchase cancellation insurance to protect yourself from unexpected circumstances that may cause you to cancel your trip. We recommend Tin Leg for trip and cancellation insurance.

In particular, the impact of COVID-19 on travel means that elements of your trip are beyond the control of Saints & Sages – this may include border closures, government-mandated quarantines, etc. We will do our utmost to ensure your safety; however, S² is not liable for any expenses, changes to the trip itinerary or medical emergencies. Any costs associated with cancellations or delays are your responsibility.
