What is Saints & Sages?
Saints & Sages is a travel company specializing in bespoke vacations and boutique, small group travel within the U.S., Europe, and Latin America. We believe that the experience of travel is just as important as the sights themselves, so we hand-select charming hotels (normally 4- and 5-star), great food, personable local guides, comfortable transportation, and a professionally certified travel director to take care of all the details so you can just kick back and breathe it all in!
Saints & Sages is re-thinking educational travel as well, making it more personalized and thoughtful. We’ve seen how these trips run, and it can be so much more! Let us help you elevate your students’ experience, moving away from large busses of students corralled and shuttled to packed sites, monotonous buffet dinners, and peripheral hotels. For a similar cost, they can have meaningful contact with the culture they’re visiting!
We also plan custom trips of any size. Just ask us!
Saints & Sages is accredited by IATAN and proud member of ASTA, the Johns Creek Chamber of Commerce, and the Georgia Council for International Visitors.
Who runs Saints & Sages?
Hi there! I’m Lindie, founder of Saints & Sages. Travel and I go way, way, and I mean WAY back. I was raised in an airline family, traveling whenever I got a free moment (more like whenever there was an empty seat on the plane!). I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies, and then I got my master’s in Theoretical Linguistics with a concentration in second language learning.
Since that time, my work has focused on world language and cultural education, globalization/localization AI projects, and of course, TRAVEL. I have lived and/or worked on four continents and am fluent in five languages. I have received a Level 2 Award in Wines with Distinction from the Wine & Spirit Education Trust in London, England, and I am also an ITMI-certified travel director.
Why group travel?
- The human experience is about connection; all our best memories are shared. You’ll get an instant, small circle of like-minded new friends.
- The best of all worlds: the ability to wander off and explore, plus built-in friends to enjoy social time with.
- Smaller numbers allow for spontaneity rather than a set-in-stone schedule.
- You can still go “off the beaten path,” unlike large groups.
- You often get preferred entry at many monuments and attractions
- You get the increased safety that comes with travel in larger numbers
- Small group travel is about as stress-free as it can possibly get. There are always inconveniences and minor problems that crop up, and in a group, all of the hassles will be handled by your travel director… not you!
What does your name mean?
Our company name has two levels of meaning.
Surface level: it represents two major aspects of travel. Saints represents the spiritual side of where we visit: depending on our destination, we may visit cathedrals, mosques, or temples. Sages represents the knowledge and history of our destination: we will experience the architecture and art of the culture, its monuments, natural beauty, government buildings, cultural icons, and, of course, enjoy its cuisine.
Deeper level: Digging below the surface, we get to the heart of what we all crave as humans: connection (saints) and growth (sages). We forge new connections with our world and culture through meaningful interaction with other cultures, and we create lasting memories with our travel companions. We grow in many different ways, depending on where we are in life’s journey; we may increase in knowledge, sure, but we can also expand in compassion, self-awareness, gratefulness, and the appreciation of life’s wonders.
