DAY 0     TRAVEL DAY

Fly from the US into Paris. We are happy to put a Paris extension together for you if you'd like to explore more of what Paris has to offer before our trip starts or if you'd just like a few days to get over jet lag.

Overnight: Flight     Meals: In-flight

DAY 1     PARIS, FRANCE

Upon arrival, you'll have private transport to our Paris hotel where you'll have time to rest and refresh. In the afternoon, we'll see the best (and uncrowded!) skyline views of Paris and will enjoy a mini-welcome gathering with appetizers and cocktail hour.

Overnight City: Paris     Meals: Light dinner

DAY 2     NANTES

In the morning, we'll take the two-hour bullet train from Paris to Nantes. Officially part of the Loire Region, Nantes belongs historically and culturally to Brittany. An expert guide will show us the best of the old town, and then we'll enjoy our welcome luncheon with wine pairings guided by a charming Loire Valley sommelier. After lunch, we'll have private transport to our home base of Vannes in the Morbihan Peninsula.

Overnight City: Vannes     Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

DAY 3     ROCHEFORT-EN-TERRE, CASTLE VISITS

Today we head out to visit Domaine de Suscinio Castle before heading to Rochefort-en-Terre, one of the villages France has designated as one of their most beautiful. We will have time to explore before heading to our next castle, Château de Josselin.

Overnight City: Vannes   Meals: Breakfast, Welcome Luncheon

DAY 4     NEOLITHIC SITES & AURAY

Today, we will see two prehistoric sites. First, we'll explore the megaliths of Locmariaquer, including the Er-Grah tumulus passage grave, the Table des Marchand dolmen, and the Menhir of Er Grah, the largest known single block of stone to be transported and erected by Neolithic people. Then, we will head over to visit the Carnac Stones, a collection of more than 3,000 prehistoric standing stones that were erected by the pre-Celtic people of Brittany. We'll also have a nice visit in the historic and charming port city of Auray.

Overnight City: Vannes     Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

DAY 5     FINISTÈRE

Today we leave the Morbihan Peninsula for the region the Romans called Finis Terrae, and the Bretons called Penn ar Bed. Either way, it translates into English as "the End of the World." On our way to our new home base of Quimper, we will visit famed Pont-Aven, made famous by the artists Émile Bernard and Paul Gaugin, and home to the Pont-Aven School of Art. Next, we'll visit the medieval walled town of Concarneau.

Overnight City: Quimper     Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

DAY 6     GLÉNAN ISLANDS

This morning, we'll take off on a sailing trip to the Glénan Islands. Known as the "Breton Caribbean," these islands feature crystal-clear turquoise waters and white sandy beaches. Accessible only by boat, these largely unspoiled islands are a protected natural reserve and tranquil escape.

Overnight City: Quimper     Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

DAY 7     POINTE DU RAZ, LOCRONAN & CIDER

Today, we'll visit the westernmost point in France, rugged Pointe du Raz Cape, known for its high cliffs and breathtaking panoramic ocean views. After connecting with nature, we'll enjoy an afternoon in Locronan, a beautifully-preserved Breton village with incredible half-timbered and granite architecture. You guessed it, it's also one of France's most beautiful villages! Lastly, we'll taste cidre at Brittany's oldest cider house. This refreshing alcoholic beverage is made from apples, and Brittany makes the best in France. Like wine, French cidre ranges from dry (mostly enjoyed alongside meals) to sweet (enjoyed with dessert).

Overnight City: Quimper     Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

DAY 8     CROZON PENINSULA & CAMARET-SUR-MER

I hope you're not tired of gorgeous views! Today we visit the Crozon Peninsula with its turquoise waters and jagged cliffs. This peninsula has a rich history with forts and dolmens. We'll spend time in the picturesque maritime village of Camaret-sur-Mer, home of the UNESCO-listed Vauban Tower and a charming and lively port town with fresh seafood and art shops.

Overnight City: Quimper     Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

DAY 9     CÔTE DE GRANIT ROSE

Today, we check out of Quimper, stopping along the Pink Granite Coast as we make our way to Saint-Malo. We'll see the Cairn de Barnenez, known as the "Prehistoric Parthenon," which was built before the Egyptian pyramids. We'll see the iconic Pink Granite lighthouse and stop in the most picturesque villages, including Trebeurden and Perros-Guirec. Arriving in the walled city of Saint-Malo, we'll have some free time to settle in.

Overnight City: Saint-Malo     Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

DAY 10     SAINT-MALO & CANCALE

Today will be a delicious day! Did you know the region of Brittany is famous in France for having the best butter? It's true! In the morning, we'll walk the ramparts of Saint-Malo, stopping to sample the only hand-rolled artisanal butter in Brittany, along with their artisanal cheeses. For lunch, we are headed to Cancale, France's most famous village for oysters, and we'll have a special four-course tasting lunch at a seaside restaurant that you'll remember fondly for the rest of your life, both for its views and the quality of its food. With a lunch like this, we won't need dinner!

Overnight City: Saint-Malo     Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

DAY 11     DINAN & FOUGÈRES

Today we're headed to the jaw-droppingly beautiful medieval village of Dinan with its half-timbered houses, historic ramparts, and impressive castle. Next, we'll head to the medieval village of Fougères, site of the largest and (and arguably most impressive) medieval fortress in Europe (founded in 1020!). After heading back to Saint-Malo, we'll celebrate our last dinner together with a fantastic feast and great wines!

Overnight City: Saint-Malo     Meals: Breakfast, Farewell Dinner

DAY 12    DEPARTURE

Unless continuing your journey with us to Mont-Saint-Michel and the D-Day landing beaches, you will have private transport to the city of Rennes, where you'll catch a fast train to Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris (duration: one hour and ten minutes). You'll be able to either catch an evening flight back to the US or we'll hook you up with a one-night stay in a hotel near the airport. If you'd like to add on time in France, we're happy to help with that. Just ask us!

Highly recommend!

My husband and I have traveled extensively in the past 30 years and traveling with Saints and Sages was amazing.  Lindie is the most organized delightful tour guide who anticipates our needs and makes sure we have amazing experiences. The Fairytale France tour was better than we could imagine.  Strasbourg, Colmar, and the Alsace region had charming medieval villages, castles, cathedrals, incredible food, wonderful boutique, hotels, and incredible wines.  We enjoyed traveling through the vineyards of Alsace and visiting a great winery.  It was interesting traveling through the Black Forest to Baden-Baden with its thermal baths, casino, luxury hotels. and beautiful gardens.  Heidelberg, with its castle was like going back in time.  We are planning on going on the Bordeaux Bilbao tour next year and are anxious to go on future trips with Saints and Sages.
